The
Paper Pickle Company was established in 2003 by two sisters named, Kelly
and Kim. Kelly ran the store at a very modest location. The original
"Pickle" carried mainly rubber stamping products.
In
the winter of 2004, the sisters decided that they would like to carry
scrapbooking products in the store (as there is a natural fit and overlap
of the two hobbies). The problem was that their current location would
not be big enough to carry this line! They loved their "little store"
and landlord named, Joe, but knew it was time to look for a new home.
Numerous
locations were viewed but nothing seemed right. It wasn't until Kim
peaked in the dusty window at 44 Fourth Street that she knew this was
the perfect spot! Immediately she called Kelly and told her about the
find. They called their agent named, Steve and viewed the store together.
It was love at first sight! The rustic brick wall. The high loft ceiling.
And three times the size of their original location. It was all too
perfect! However there was a lot of work to do; you see, the floors
were just cement and the walls were just frames. So together with their
new landlord named, Mike, they designed the store together.
And
what a store it is! A rustic brick wall to the left and a "pickle-green"
wall to the right. Antique items fill the store to remind Kelly and
Kim of their farming backgrounds while a modern store design gives them
great hopes for the future. Over two-thousand unique rubber stamps smile
happily at each customer and subtly say "buy me". Paper racks filled
with hundreds of different background papers and cardstock have found
a nice home in the back "nook" area of the store. The latest scrapbooks
are tucked nicely in an antique Canadian made hutch.
And
thousands of the best and most sought after embellishments and products
dance merrily throughout the store. Kelly and Kim are so happy in their
new home! Sometimes they are so overjoyed that you may even catch them
riding their green bike through the store! Now this is something you
would not see in your average paper craft store! And the girls and The
Paper Pickle are definitely not that - AVERAGE! So come in and share
in the sister's love of the hobby! As their pickle-green wall says,
"These are the days of imagination and joy"!
